“A bit of a fight.”

I also keep chickens at Cabbage Hall, although it was a bit of a fight to get permission. There are two sorts of allotments – horticultural and livestock. There are national by-laws that govern allotments everywhere. Well, I wanted chickens on my allotment, but I knew they were allowed, because of the type of allotment it is. So I asked the Manager at the time and he said “No.” But I didn’t give up. Eventually, I found a way to the top person and they said “Of course.” Then my phone lit up – it was the Manager. He wasn’t happy with the permission I’d got over his head, but… I got my way.
