Joining The Friends of Court Hey Park and the Show Committee

I moved to Huyton in 2002. I’d been involved with The Friends of Childwall Woods and Fields in Childwall, Liverpool. So my husband and I were interested in getting involved with preserving and protecting green spaces. I joined the Friends in 2003. There was a delegated member of The Friends on the Show Committee and the place became vacant. George Peet, author of ‘A History of Court Hey Park’ of The Friends joined the Show Committee and I went along too, I can’t remember why. The Committee set-up was quite unfamiliar to me – the members seemed very set in their ways, grumpy even, although it was very clear that they had a great deal of expertise in growing and showing: they knew what they were doing and they were going to do it! When George died, I took over as delegate from The Friends.
