Text: Thousands of visitors flocked to the biggest free flower show in the North West. Young and old and their four-legged friends enjoyed a grand day out at Knowsley Flower Show, which celebrated it’s 14th year. Organisers said this year’s event, themed around both the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond jubilee, was “bigger and better than ever”. The huge horticultural event was hosted at Court Hey Park, Roby, yesterday. As well as floral and vegetable exhibitions from amateur gardeners, and workshops by expert gardeners, visitors enjoyed a farmer’s market and performances from the H & M Dog Display team. The show was opened by Knowsley Mayor, Cllr Norman Hogg, and Tatton Park’s former head gardener, Sam Youd, who was also a judge and a panellist on Gardener’s Question Time at the show.
