Schools and the College

From quite early on, we got schools involved with the Show. Rob Jones (who was a Knowsley Council worker) has had a Bowring Park allotment. He was also on the Parent-Teacher Association for a primary school in Prescott. So we made that connection and got another allotment holder, Vinnie Kilshaw, to show the kids how to grow. We made raised beds at the school and even managed to get a small grant from the local housing association. More recently, Linda Formby and Lynda Malley, who were both teachers, have really made connections with Roby Primary School. Pupils from there always enter the Show. The Show also has connections to Myerscough College (an agricultural college). Students there exhibit and one year they sponsored the whole show.
