You had to look out for the NAS (not as scheduled)

I’ve been a member of the National Dahlia Society since 1969 and got onto the Northern Committee. Most of the Committee members were judges so off I went and took the judges’ exam at the Jaguar factory in Birmingham. You have to judge a show previously judged by experts. You had to look out for the NAS (not as scheduled), according to things like the size of the flower or if it hadn’t been entered for the right class. If you missed one NAS, you had 15 points taken off and if you missed two NAS, you failed the exam.
